A Rosary for the new Master of the Order!

Every three years, representatives of all the Dominican brothers from around the world gather in a General Chapter to sketch in outline the activities which will animate the Order of Preachers in its entirety.

Every nine years, a special General Chapter is celebrated. It is called the Elective Chapter as it has the role of nominating a new Master of the Order.


Nine years ago, in 2001, the Chapter of Providence elected Brother Carlos Alfonso AZPIROZ COSTA to the head of the Order. It is him who took the initiative of nominating a General Promoter of the Rosary when this function had not been honored for so many years. It is thanks to him that this site saw the light of day!

Among many documents, he addressed to the whole Order a Letter on the Rosary to launch in 2008 the year of the Rosary, and another Letter on the Rosary Teams.

Let us give thanks to God for those years lived under the gaze of Our Lady of the Rosary!


A few days ago, the General Chapter in Rome ( 31 August – 21 September 2010 ) elected a new Master of the Order. He is a Frenchman, Brother Bruno CADORE, former provincial of the Province of France. Thus, he became the 86th successor of Saint Dominic!

What is more natural than to entrust him to Our Lady of the Rosary? She, who loves our order particularly and has shown this during its history, will know how to guide, inspire and protect him in this demanding task.


Yes, let us pray the Rosary for our new Master of the Order!

May he be the guardian and propagator of this beautiful devotion that Our Lady has entrusted to us!
