No.354 - May 2011
Our theme for the year:
“I saw a huge crowd”
The month of Mary, in spring, has the charm of flowers loaded with hope.
And it is true that Mary, as St. Paul says, encourages us to hope against all hope because it also is, I was going to say, especially, the paschal time which celebrates the new life opened for us by the Risen Christ.
He dies no more for He has conquered death.
In Him, we hope that our death and that of those whom we love, is not an end but a passage, an Easter to the new life with the Risen Jesus!
But we discover with joy that in the southern hemisphere it is autumn, the season of fruits. And this year we pray with the Acts of the Apostles the immense event of Pentecost.
The crowd has gathered, beginning of this immense crowd, the birth of the Church.
Pentecost is a fruit of Easter. Then, with the season of flowers and the season of fruits, we live here and there, in the whole world, the joy of salvation with Mary.
And we discover that Easter lasts until Pentecost.
Or better still, the unique event of the salvation of the world begins on Holy Thursday when Jesus gives Himself, through Good Friday when Mary stands at the foot of the cross to the night of Holy Saturday when Jesus walks out of the tomb victorious over death, to the morning of Pentecost when the apostles with Mary receive the Holy Spirit amid the crowd.
This Holy Spirit who animates the Church.
With Mary, let us receive the flowers and the fruits of the Resurrection for the whole Church in the South and in the North.
