The Pilgrim Rosary in the monasteries of the Order began November 7, 2015 in Prouilhe. Throughout this year each monastery was assigned 2 days to celebrate the Rosary by inviting the Dominican Family as far as possible to join with the Nuns at their monastery to pray the Rosary. Our Fátima Monastery was chosen to complete the Pilgrim Rosary because of the First Centenary of the Apparitions here. So, we will follow the 200+ Dominican monasteries and make the closing celebrations here in Fátima. It is truly a wonderful privilege to do this! The Pilgrim Rosary celebrated and prayed by all the Dominican Nuns of the world has thus become a most beautiful Dominican preparation for the Centenary of Fátima where Our Lady announced “I am the Lady of the Rosary.”
January 1: Families Praying the Rosary for Peace
Since October 2015 our Monastery Chapel has been the venue for the first Sunday Family Rosary Hour. The program begins at 5pm with the Holy Rosary led by one of our Dominican Fathers who gives a reflection on the various Rosary mysteries. Each decade is prayed by a family. The family stands altogether near the altar to pray one decade of the Rosary. Another family follows for each succeeding decade. Often there are parents, children and grandchildren altogether praying. A beautiful witness to family prayer! The Nuns from their Choir within the cloister pray with the families. Benediction of the Most Blessed Sacrament concludes the Hour of Prayer. The families and others who have participated have expressed their joy and eagerness to continue.
January 1, 2017 the Solemnity of the Mother of God and World Day of Peace occurs on the first Sunday, Family Rosary Sunday and offers an exceptional moment to conclude the Pilgrim Rosary of the Dominican 8th Centenary Year.
January 2: Dominican Family united in the prayer of the Rosary for Peace
On the final day of the worldwide Jubilee Pilgrim Rosary, here in Fátima the Dominican Family will unite in praying the Rosary for Peace. We shall remember especially our Dominican brothers and sisters who are living and working in nations where war is a daily experience. Also, those Dominicans who may be living in and enduring extreme poverty. We cannot go to them in person to help but through the Holy Rosary we can reach Heaven whence all help comes! The prayer of the Rosary is the prayer for Peace as Our Lady Herself told us here in Fátima. The Rosary is the most efficacious means we have to obtain Peace for the world. It seems at times to be too simple and is hardly ever mentioned as a means to obtain the gift of peace from God
In July 1917, Lucia asked Our Lady: “What do you want of me?”
“I want you to come here on the 13th of next month, to continue to pray the Rosary every day in honour of Our Lady of the Rosary, in order to obtain peace for the world and the end of the war, because only She can help you.”
Today, we too ask Our Lady “What do you want of me?”
Her reply will surely be the same: Continue to pray the Rosary everyday to obtain peace for the world…
